Terry Etim (born October 19, 1985) is a British professional mixed martial artist training out of Team Kaobon.

He stands 6 ft. 1 in. (185 cm) tall and currently fights in the lightweight (155 lbs.) division.

Etim currently fights as a lightweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Terry Etim made his professional mixed martial arts debut on May 12, 2005 against Kris Leverton for the Ultimate Ring Fighting organization. Etim defeated Leverton via triangle choke submission in the first round.

Fighting predominantly in the UK, Etim amassed a perfect 9-0 record on smaller British shows until December of 2006. He finished all fights in either the first or second round with the majority of his victories coming via submission.

UFC Career

In April of 2007, the Ultimate Fighting Championship had their first card (UFC 70) on UK soil since July, 2002 (UFC 38). Etim was one of four British fighters to get the call-up to the big show.

He faced off against tough American fighter, Matt Grice. After getting dominated early in the round, Etim latched onto a guillotine choke with thirty seconds left in the round that had Grice tapping at 4.38 of round 1. Etim's UFC debut earned him submission of the night honors and a spot on the SpikeTV broadcast.

Etim's second UFC performance ended in disappointment however as he was dominated by the much larger, Gleison Tibau for three rounds at UFC 75. Etim's inability to avoid Tibau's takedowns proved to be the one and only deciding factor in the bout.

Etim fared little better in his third UFC fight. Up against the more experienced Rich Clementi, Etim suffered the same fate as the Tibau fight, with Clementi's takedowns proving the difference over three rounds.

Etim's next fight came against fellow Rich Clementi victim, Sam Stout at UFC 89. Etim defeated an underwhelming Stout via unanimous decision to break his mini-losing streak.
