'''Marloes "Rumina" Coenen''' (born [[March 31]], 1981) is a female Dutch professional mixed martial artist training out of [[Golden Glory]] in Holland.

She stands 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm) tall and fights in the 145 lbs. division.

Coenen currently fights in the 145 lbs. division for the [[Strikeforce]] promotion.

== Early Career ==

[[Marloes Coenen]] made her professional mixed martial arts debut on [[November 22]], 2000 for the Ladies Legends Pro Wrestling promotion based out of Tokyo, Japan. She successfully kicked off her career with an [[armbar]] submission win over [[Yuuki Kondo]] in 2:37 of the first round.

In her next outing, Coenen claimed a one night, eight woman tournament for the Remix promotion. She scored two quick submission wins to make it to the final where she defeated Japanese fighter, [[Megumi Yabushita]] via unanimous decision.

After only fighting a total of three times over the next three years (all victories), Coenen opened 2004 by competing in a one night, eight woman tournament held by the [[SmackGirl]] promotion. Coenen defeated [[Yoko Takahashi]] in the opening round but would suffer her first professional defeat in the semis when she was knocked out by [[Erin Toughill]].

Coenen rebounded from the loss to take three straight victories before entering another eight woman tournament - this time held by the K-Grace promotion. She scored successive [[rear naked choke]] victories to make it to the final where she met [[Roxy Modafferi]] for the tournament championship. In a close and hard fought fight, Coenen was edged via split decision giving her her second professional defeat.

Just over a year later, Coenen returned to action and went 3-0 in the year with all victories coming via stoppage.

Although she had signed to fight with [[EliteXC]] in 2008, she was unable to compete due to the promotion folding. Her fight for 2009 did not go as planned as either as she suffered a unanimous decision defeat to MMA debutant, [[Cindy Dandois]].

== Strikeforce ==

Despite the loss to Dandois, Coenen was picked up by the Strikeforce promotion midway through 2009 and was to be matched up against lightweight champion, [[Cristiane Santos]]. However, an injury to Santos nixed the bout and Coenen was instead to face [[Erin Toughill]] in a rematch from their 2004 bout. Toughill was unable to fight as well though, and Coenen was given another former opponent in [[Roxy Modafferi]].

The two faced off on the untelevised portion of [[Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers]] on CBS with Coenen stunning Roxy early and then submitting her with an [[armbar]] in just 1:05 of round 1.

She will now take on Santos in January for the lightweight championship.
