Samy "The Dog" Schiavo (born December 14, 1975) is a French professional mixed martial artist.

He stands 5 ft. 8 in. (173 cm) tall and currently fights as a lightweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Samy Schiavo made his professional mixed martial arts debut on March 18, 2000, where he scored a decision victory over Shinya Tsuchida fighting for the Golden Trophy organization.

Schiavo had a mixed start to his career going 4-4 up until the end of 2005. All four of his losses came to middle-tier fighters in Jean Silva (twice), Robbie Olivier and Eiji Mitsuoka.

At the beginning of 2006, Schiavo defeated Christophe Bea via submission. This victory was the first of a six fight victory that took him through until the beginning of 2008.

UFC Career

Schiavo made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 13 against lightweight dynamo, Clay Guida. At the end of the first round Schiavo was overwhelmed by Guida's furious pace and ground and pound. The bout ended at 4.15 of round 1 with Guida being awarded the TKO victory.

Schiavo's next bout took place at UFC 89: Bisping vs. Leben at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England against Swedish fighter, Per Eklund. Schiavo dropped Eklund early but eventually succumbed to a rear naked choke defeat in the third round.
