"Relentless" Paul Taylor (born 1980) is a British professional mixed martial artist.

He stands 6 ft 0in (183cm) and currently fights as a welterweight (170 lbs.).

He fights as a welterweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Early MMA Career

Paul Taylor made his professional mixed martial arts debut on September 7, 2002 as a part of the inaugural Cage Rage card. He fought Matt Ewin to a draw in that bout.

He fought in the second Cage Rage show against future UFC competitor, Jess Liaudin. Taylor scored a unanimous decision after three rounds.

Taylor went 6-1 with one no contest in his next eight bouts. Out of the eight bouts his most notable victory came in 2005, with a TKO over Zelg Galesic. His only loss in that time came at the submission prowess of Yuki Sasaki, who submitted Taylor with an arm bar in their 2006 encounter.

UFC Career

Paul Taylor made his UFC debut at UFC 70 against the perplexing Ediberto de Oliveira. Taylor's superior kickboxing skill was the telling factor in the fight, with Taylor beating Oliveira from one side of the cage to the other eventually scoring a TKO victory early in the third round.

Taylor returned to the UFC five months later at UFC 75 where he faced off against TUF 2 veteran, Marcus Davis. Taylor scored a heavy knockdown early in the fight after he landed a clean high kick that put Davis on queer street. Davis managed to recover and reverse position. Davis moved to mount and when Taylor went to buck him off, Davis latched onto an arm forcing the tap a little over four minutes into the first round. The fight earned both Taylor and Davis "fight of the night" honors.

In another "fight of the night" performance, Taylor went the distance with Paul Kelly at UFC 80. The fight started with one of the most chaotic opening exchanges ever but eventually turned into a grinding ground war that Kelly dominated with position. Kelly earned the unanimous decision victory and Taylor suffered his third professional loss.

Coming off two consecutive losses, Taylor faced off in a rematch against Jess Liaudin at UFC 85. In a razor close fight Taylor edged out Liaudin with a split decision victory.

Taylor returned to competition at UFC 89 where he faced off against UFC welterweight gatekeeper, Chris Lytle. In an all out brawl that earned both fighters "Fight Of The Night" honors, Lytle edged Taylor via close but unanimous decision.
