MMA Career

American Top Team's Mike Brown (born September 8, 1975) made his professional debut on April 14, 2001, submitting his foe, Jeff Darienzo, with an Americana. Brown, who honed his takedown skills as a wrestler while he attended Norwich Univeristy, went on to win five of his first six fights by submission.

2003 proved to be a banner year for Brown, who fought and won six times. During that period Mike earned the highest profile of his fledgling career, defeating Mark Hominick via Heel Hook.

Brown had also caught the attention of UFC scouts, and he was contracted to fight at UFC - 47. Unfortunately Brown's first Octagon appearance didn't go as planned with his opponent, Genki Sudo, forcing him to submit to a Triangle Choke. Attempting a comeback Brown found himself unable to beat Joe Lauzon, submitting for the second time in a row.

Rebounding with three victories Mike then made his way to Korea for a battle with DEEP Bantamweight Champion, Masakazu Imanari. Falling to one of Imanari's trademark leglocks Brown suffered his most recent loss.

Mike then bounced back, stopping his next three opponents and following that up with a decision win over Yves Edwards. Brown's winning streak continued with a TKO against Eben Oroz and a Rear Naked Choke on Manny Reyes Jr.

After remaining unbeaten for two years Brown then came to the WEC's Featherweight division. In his first contest for the Zuffa-owned promotion, Mike came away with a decision victory over Jeff Curran.

Mike Brown's last fight shocked the world. In it Brown conquered the seemingly unbeatable 145lb champion, Urijah Faber, doing so by TKO. Mike currently holds the WEC Featherweight Championship. The newly-crowned champ is suspended indefinitely pending a doctor's release due to torn rib cartilage. The injury occurred during the bout with Faber.
