Profile

Jess "The Joker" Liaudin (born x, 1974) is a French professional mixed martial artist.

He stands 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm) tall and currently fights as a lightweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Jess Liaudin made his professional mixed martial arts debut on November 25, 2000 against Moise Rimbon as a part of a UK Pancrase show. Liaudin defeated Rimbon via decision.

After the fight with Rimbon, Liaudin rolled off four submission victories in a row, with all fights coming in 2001.

Liaudin's career hit some rough times from the start of 2002 until the end of 2005 as he went 2-8 against varying degrees of competition. In the three year stretch Liaudin suffered notable losses to Paul Taylor (decision), Shonie Carter (decision), Paul Daley (TKO), Abdul Mohamed (TKO), and Hidetaka Monma (submission).

He regrouped in 2006, going 3-0 with three finishes. This three fight win streak would earn Liaudin a contract with the UFC.

UFC Career

Liaudin made his UFC debut at UFC 70 against German, Dennis Siver. UFC 70 was the first UFC show held in the UK since UFC 38 which was held back in July of 2002.

Going into the bout, Siver was said to be more favored fighter, but Liaudin scored the upset in 1.21 of the first round as he latched onto an arm bar which forced Siver to tap.

Liaudin returned to the UFC at UFC 75 with another impressive performance. This time, he battered TUF 2 veteran, Anthony Torres with punches. Liaudin knocked Torres to the mat multiple times before ending the bout at 4.10 of round 1 with another crushing blow.

His two impressive performances, earned Liaudin a step-up in competition at UFC 80. He faced another TUF 2 veteran in Marcus Davis. After being softened up with a huge body kick by Davis, Liaudin was put to sleep with a devastating punch 1.04 into round 1.

Liaudin's UFC record would take another hit at UFC 85 when he lost a contentious split decision in a rematch with Paul Taylor.

In his fifth UFC fight, Liaudin suffered a disappointing unanimous decision loss to David Bielkheden at UFC 89. The loss made it his third in a row and leaves his position in the organization perilous.
