Early Career
Jason Lambert made his professional mixed martial arts debut on February 18, 2001 at a Gladiator Challenge event. He submitted his opponent, Jorge Lavama, with a keylock in 3:45 of round 1.
Lambert picked up consecutive TKO victories in his next two bouts before suffering his first professional loss when he was submitted by Jong Wang Kim with a guillotine choke in 55 seconds at a King of the Cage event.
He made it two defeats in a row two months later as he was submitted with a heel hook by Vale Tudo legend, Marco Ruas at an Ultimate Pankration event.
Lambert halted the two fight slide six days later as he choked out Kauai Kupihea in the second round.
After defeating Jason Jones at a King of the Cage event, Lambert entered a 16-man heavyweight tournament held by the SuperBrawl promotion in April of 2002.
The tournament was held over two days, with the first round being held on the first and the final three rounds held on the second. In the opening round, Lambert faced Ron Faircloth and defeated him via unanimous decision to earn a place in the quarter finals.
Lambert submitted Brian Stromberg with a forearm choke in the quarter finals the next day to book a place in the semis against Tim Sylvia. Lambert's tournament run would end in the semi-finals as he was punished by Sylvia with the bout eventually being halted midway through the second round.
Following the tournament, Lambert scored three consecutive victories (including a decision win over Dan Quinn) before being knocked cold by Wesley "Cabbage" Correira at a SuperBrawl event in November of 2002.
Lambert fought five times in 2003, going 4-1 with the lone loss coming in November of that year to Team Quest's Chael Sonnen via decision.
After the Sonnen loss, Lambert put together the most impressive streak of his career as strung together defeats of Mike Rogers, Matt Horwich, Richard Montoya (to become the new WEC light heavyweight champion), Marvin Eastman and Travis Wiuff. The streak pushed Lambert's record to 19-5 and earned him a contract with the UFC.
UFC
Lambert made his UFC debut at UFC 58 in March of 2006. He faced TUF 2's Rob MacDonald and submitted him with a kimura in 1:54 of round 1.
A little over a month later, Lambert was back in the Octagon - this time against the heavy handed Terry Martin at UFC 59. Lambert outmuscled and overwhelmed Martin, eventually stopping him with punches midway through the second round.
Lambert improved his win streak to eight at UFC Fight Night 5 in June of 2006 when he dominated Brandon Lee Hinkle forcing the referee to halt the bout at the end of the first round.
At UFC 63 Lambert was given the highest profile bout of his career when he faced TUF 2 heavyweight winner, Rashad Evans. Evans snapped Lambert's win streak as he secured the mount position in the second round and knocked Lambert cold with punches.
Just over five months later, Lambert met recent UFC light heavyweight title challenger, Renato "Babalu" Sobral at UFC 68. Babalu dominated Lambert in the first round and came to the brink of stopping "The Punisher". Lambert ralled in the second round however and landed a huge right hand that knocked Sobral cold 3:26 into the round.
With the biggest win of his career under his belt, Lambert met Wilson Gouveia at UFC 80 in January of 2008. Lambert used his size to control Gouveia in the first round but got sloppy with his hands in the second as he through a wild right hook that was countered beautifully by Gouveia which left Lambert cold on the canvas.
Lambert returned to England at UFC 85 and faced another Brazilian in Luis Cane. Cane did mean things to Lambert on the feet for the short duration of the bout as he continously dropped him, eventually putting him out after 2:07.
Lambert decided to drop down to the middleweight division following the consecutive losses and faced Jason MacDonald - who was a late replacement for Jason Day - at UFC 88. He came close to finishing MacDonald with a guillotine choke at the end of the first round but the bell went before he could finish. MacDonald came out stronger in the second and seized Lambert's back before submitting him with a rear naked choke.
The three consecutive losses resulted in Lambert being released from the UFC.
Post-UFC Career
In his first bout after leaving the UFC, Lambert faced former UFC light heavyweight title challenger, Vladimir Matyushenko. Lambert threatened to stop Matyushenko in the third round but ultimately went down unanimously on the judge's scorecards to bring his losing streak to four.
