Profile

Drew "The Massacre" McFedries (born July 27, 1978) is an American professional mixed martial artist who currently trains at the Miletich Fighting Systems.

He stands 6 ft. (183 cm) tall and fights in the middleweight division (185 lbs.) for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Drew McFedries made his professional mixed martial arts debut at Extreme Challenge 43 on September 8, 2001 against future TUF 1 and UFC competitor, Nate Quarry. McFedries was defeated in the second round when he succumbed to exhaustion, awarding Quarry the TKO victory.

McFedries returned to mixed martial arts competition in June of 2002, where he picked up his first professional victory in a decision win over Canadian, Claude Patrick at a UCC event held in Quebec, Canada.

In 2003, McFedries fought twice and picked up two victories as he stopped Rafal Piszczek at a Shooto event held in Indiana and submission due to strikes victory over Steve Dau in August.

Following the Dau victory, McFedries went three years without fighting before making his comeback at Extreme Challenge 71 where he scored a victory over Brian Monahan in the first round.

UFC Career

McFedries got an unexpected call up from the UFC when he was asked to fill in as a late replacement for Wilson Gouveia in a fight against Alessio Sakara at UFC 65. Sakara was on top early as he worked McFedries over with fast combinations, however McFedries power took over and he eventually stopped his more fancied opponent with punches at the 4:07 mark of round 1.

On the main card of UFC 68, McFedries dropped back down to the middeleweight division and faced crisp striker, Martin Kampmann. "The Massacre"'s power punching came in to play again as he continously dropped the more fancied striker with bombs early and often. Kampmann switched things up a few minutes in and scored a takedown. From there, Kampmann transitioned to a deep arm triangle choke that sent McFedries unconscious at 4:06 of round 1.

McFedries returned at UFC Fight Night 10 where he faced and destroyed Jordan Radev on the main card. At just 33 seconds of the first round, McFedries dropped Radev with a huge punch to score the KO victory.

In January of 2008, McFedries faced off against TUF 4's Patrick Cote in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 12. A few weeks before the bout it was learned that McFedries' mother had been murdered. McFedries went through with the fight anyhow and was defeated via TKO at 1:44 of round 1.

On the undercard of The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale, McFedries picked up "Knockout of the Night" honors when he stopped Marvin Eastman at just 1:08 of round 1.

At UFC Fight Night 15, McFedries' lacklustre ground game was exposed again by UFC newcomer, Mike Massenzio. At 1:28 of the first round, Massenzio forced the tap from McFedries with a Kimura.

Just over a month later, McFedries filled in on short notice as a replacement for Goran Reljic at UFC 90. He faced highly regarded Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, Thales Leites. He seemed to rock Leites early with a good punch but Leites then quickly secured the takedown, then his back and then the rear naked choke to force the tap at 1:18 of round 1.

McFedries will next return to the Octagon at UFC 98 when he faces James Irvin in a middleweight bout.
