David "The Brazilian Swede" Bielkheden (born June 6, 1979) is a Swedish professional mixed martial artist who fights out of Brazilian Top Team.

He stands 5 ft. 10 in. (178 cm) tall and now fights in the lightweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

David Bielkheden made his professional mixed martial arts debut in on November 24, 2001 losing a decision to Arben Lafti as a part of Finn Fight 5.

From 2003 to mid 2006, Bielkheden fought 13 times going 10-3 with a notable victory over Charles McCarthy (submission due to strikes) and a notable loss to Ryuta Sakurai (unanimous decision).

In November of 2006, Bielkheden emerged from the smaller promotions, to fight on PRIDE: Bushido 13. He faced off against top calibre Japanese lightweight, Mitsuhiro Ishida. He was defeated by Ishida via unanimous decision after two rounds.

UFC Career

After the loss to Ishida, Bielkeden responded with consecutive victories in two smaller promotions against Lubormir Roumenov and Nikola Matic respectively.

The victories earned Bielkheden a call up to the UFC. In his debut bout, at UFC 82, he faced an angry and motivated Diego Sanchez who was coming off the first two losses of his career. Bielkheden was overwhelmed by Sanchez early, eventually submitting to punches at 4.43 of round 1.

Bielkheden rebounded from his UFC debut defeat by unanimously decisioning Jess Liaudin at UFC 89. After getting dropped early, Bielkheden used better wrestling and ground control to win an uninspired decision.
