Profile

Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy (born May 17, 1982) is a British professional mixed martial artist who fights out of Team Rough House.

He stands 6 ft. (183 cm) tall and fights in the welterweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is the current welterweight and light welterweight champion for the Cage Warriors organization.

Early Career

Dan Hardy made his professional mixed martial arts debut on June 6, 2004 against Lee Doski at Extreme Brawl 7. He was submitted by Doski via rear naked choke at 4.59 of round 2.

Hardy went 3-1 for the rest of 2004 with his second professional loss coming to Pat Healy via guillotine choke at AFC 10.

Hardy started 2005 by avenging his first professional loss, when Lee Doski submitted to injury in the second round. "The Outlaw" fought eight more times in 2005, scoring six victories with a lone loss coming to veteran, David Baron and a no contest with Diego Gonzalez.

In 2006, Hardy had mixed results. He opened the year with a cut stoppage of Diego Gonzalez which was followed by back to back losses to Forrest Petz (decision) and David Baron (decision) respectively. He closed the year with victories over Danny Rushton and Alexandre Izidro.

2007 was another busy year for Hardy, with the highlight of the year no doubt being his participation in the Japanese promotion, Cage Force's four man tournament. In the opening round at Cage Force 4, Hardy stopped Hidetaka Monma early in the third round, while in the other bracket, Yoshiyuki Yoshida stopped Akira Kikuchi with elbow strikes late in the first round. The final, which took place at Cage Force 5 a little under three months later, ended rather disappointingly when Hardy was disqualified due to a low blow four seconds into the second round.

Hardy rebounded from the loss with three consecutive victories in late 2007 and early 2008 before receiving a contract with the UFC.

UFC Career

Dan Hardy made his UFC debut at UFC 89: Bisping vs. Leben. He surprised many by defeating Japanese veteran, Akihiro Gono via split decision.
