The Ultimate Fighter
Chris Sanford began his professional mixed martial arts career on June 30, 2001. He faced Bobby Martin and won by second round KO fighting for the WEC.
After going undefeated in his next three fights by defeating all his opponents with first round submissions, Sanford got a call up to The Ultimate Fighter Season 1.
He was selected as a middleweight by Randy Couture but was eliminated from the show after Team Couture lost the first middleweight challenge and Couture was forced to choose a middleweight to send home.
Sanford was given the oppurtunity to redeem himself on The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale when he faced off against TUF 1 semi-finalist, Josh Koscheck.
Sanford looked dangerous early with some submission attempts but he was stoppped at 4.21 of the first round by a barrage of punches while on the ground that caused him to lose consciousness.
Post-TUF MMA Career
Since The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale, Sanford has fought just the once. He faced Josh Green in August of 2005 at WEC 16. Sanford submitted Green with a guillotine choke at 2.30 of round 1.
