Early Career
Six-foot five-inch Brett "The Grim" Rogers began his professional fighting career on May 3, 2006 winning his bout at EFX - Fury, with a convincing TKO win over Chris Clark. Continuing to do battle in small Minnesota based shows, Rogers scored a second KO win less than two months later, defeating Stan Strong.
A pattern was emerging; every time the 265lb Rogers entered the ring, his his foe would get knocked out in the first round. As if to prove the point, Brett returned to EFX for three more bouts over the next six months. In those matches he knocked out Brian Heden, then Mark Racine, and finally Josh Melichar. All three fell in the first frame, with Melichar lasting a mere 0:09 when the pair met for the EFX championship.
ProElite
After proving himself unstoppable on the local circuit, Rogers hooked up with ProElite's EliteXC brand. Making his debut for the promotion at EliteXC - Renegade, with yet another first round strike-induced stoppage, "The Grim" dominated Ralph Kelly and put the rest of the organization's heavyweights on notice.
Next up was a bout with PRIDE veteran James Thompson on the undercard of EliteXC - Street Certified. The outcome? If you guessed "knockout in the first" then you're a winner, just like Brett Rogers. To his credit, Thompson made it almost halfway through the round.
An appearance on CBS-hosted EliteXC Primetime moved Brett's perfect record to 8-0 with a knockout over Jon Murphy. After that production Rogers openly challenged Kimbo Slice, who in turn called Rogers "A hater". Responding to the situation, Rogers and Team Bison issued an Letter, which is a must-read for fans of the sport, or just pure trash talk.
Despite the essay EliteXC's brass didn't put together a Rogers-Slice showdown, rather they brought forth an againg Ken Shamrock as the next opponent for Slice. Brett's team once again turned up the heat by accusing Slice of Shuckin' and Duckin'. That declaration is also a must-read.
"The Grim" Is currently awaiting a match with Paul Buentello on November, 8, 2008. The fight was apparently canceled for some unknown reason and never took place.
Strikeforce
Brett's next matchup was instead against Abongo Humphrey, who he defeated by TKO at 1:38 of the second round and bringing his perfect record to 9-0.
Next, Rogers faced off against former UFC heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields. Arlovski was rumored to be Brett's hardest opponent yet but instead, Rogers defeated Arlovski by TKO at 22 seconds of the first round.
Brett's next fight is scheduled to be against Alistair Overeem for the Strikeforce heavyweight championship at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg.
