Profile

Alvin "Kid" Robinson (born July 6, 1982) is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist and Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt under Royce Gracie student, John Crouch.

He stands 5 ft. 9 in. (176 cm) tall and fights in the lightweight division (155 lbs.).

Robinson last fought as a lightweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship but as of recently has been released from his contract.

Early Career

Alvin Robinson made his professional mixed martial arts debut against Eric Payne at Ring of Fire 15 on February 12, 2005. He defeated Payne via rear naked choke submission at 2:54 of round 1.

Robinson's next four bouts came under the Ring of Fire banner with the third of those bouts coming against future UFC competitor, Luke Caudillo. Robinson defeated Caudillo via rear naked choke to earn the Ring of Fire lightweight title.

In his first bout outside of the ROF organization, Robinson suffered his first professional defeat as he was stopped by punches by Fabio Holanda at a TKO event on May 5, 2006.

Robinson quickly responded to the loss with three first round submission victories in his next three fights, with the last coming against Olly Bradstreet at Ring of Fire 28 on February 16, 2007.

UFC

With an 8-1 start to his professional career, Robinson was given a contract with the UFC. He made his UFC debut on the main card of UFC 73 against TUF 1 contestant and former UFC lightweight title challenger, Kenny Florian. Florian dominated the bout eventually making Robinson tap to strikes at the 4:30 mark of round 1.

At UFC 77 in October of 2007, Robinson filled in on short notice for Doug Evans in a main card bout against TUF 2 competitor, Jorge Gurgel. Gurgel controlled the first round with great positioning on the ground but Robinson used his superior strength in the second to overpower Gurgel and pounded out the last two rounds to take the unanimous decision victory.

The impressive victory over Gurgel gave Robinson main card duties once again when he faced TUF 5 lightweight winner, Nate Diaz at UFC Fight Night 12. Robinson got on top early but Diaz's guard was simply too much for Robinson as he was caught in a triangle choke and submitted at the 3:39 mark of round 1.

Almost 10 months later at UFC 91, Robinson faced Canadian, Mark Bocek on the show's undercard. In a back and forth bout, Bocek slowly emerged as the dominant force as he eventually secured Robinson's back in the third round and submitted him with a rear naked choke. Following the bout, Robinson was released from his UFC contract.

Post-UFC Career

Robinson was meant to get his post-UFC career under way at Ring of Fire 34 where he was to headline the card against Anthony Morrison. However a broken arm suffered while blocking a kick in training forced his removal from the bout.
