Profile

Alex "The Assassin" Karalexis (Born September 20, 1977) is a Greek-American professional mixed martial artist.

He stands 5 ft 8in (173cm) and weighs approximately 155lbs (70kg).

He is a veteran from The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 and currently fights as a lightweight for the World Extreme Cagefighting organisation.

The Ultimate Fighter

Alex Karalexis begain his professional mixed martial arts career on January 25, 2003. He scored a TKO victory over Julio Colon in his debut fighting out of the Mass Destruction organisation.

He fought three more times for Mass Destruction, going 3-0, before getting a call up from the UFC to participate as a middleweight fighter in The Ultimate Fighter Season 1.

Karalexis was the first middleweight fighter eliminated as the result of a fight. He lost to the eventual TUF 1 champion, Diego Sanchez via rear naked choke at 1.47 round 1.

Karalexis was brought back for The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale where he would face off against another Sanchez victim in Josh Rafferty. Karalexis defeated Rafferty via TKO at 1.40 of round 1.

UFC Career

Alex Karalexis fought two more times in the UFC after his TKO over Rafferty.

At the inaugural UFC Fight Night, Karalexis dropped down to welterweight and was stopped on cuts against fellow TUF 1 veteran, Kenny Florian at 2.52 of round 2. He fought five months later at UFC Fight Night 3 where he was choked unconscious by The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 veteran, Jason Von Flue.

World Extreme Cagefighting

Karalexis was dropped by the UFC and after defeating Josh Lydell in a smaller show, he found a new home in the form of the World Extreme Cagefighting organisation.

In his WEC debut, Karalexis defeated Thomas Denny via unanimous decision. Five months later at WEC 25, Karalexis scored a TKO victory over Olaf Alonso 3.53 into the the second round.

After the Alonso fight, Karalexis dropped down to the lightweight division (155 lbs.). In his lightweight debut, and third WEC fight, Karalexis scored a majority decision victory over Josh Smith.

In Karalexis' next fight he fought Ed Ratcliff at WEC 31 for the WEC lightweight number one contender spot. Karalexis was defeated by Ratcliff via strikes, 1.26 into round 2.

At WEC 37, Karalexis was given the task of welcoming IFL veteran, Bart Palaszewski to the WEC. Palaszewski was too much for Karalexis as he stopped him with punches in the second round.

In a do or die match at WEC 39, Karalexis halted his two fight slide with a TKO over Greg McIntyre in the first round.
