Background

UFC Fight Night 8 (aka Ultimate Fight Night 8 and UFC Fight Night: Evans vs. Salmon) was an 8-bout fight card held on January 25, 2007 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The card aired lived on SpikeTV and was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between TUF 2 heavyweight winner, Rashad Evans and UFC virgin, Sean Salmon.

The Nate Marquardt/Dean Lister bout was originally slated for the main card however the fight was relegated to the undercard due to what some people believe to have been the behest of Spike TV.

Lightweight Bout: Din Thomas defs. Clay Guida via unanimous decision (29-28 x3).
Middleweight Bout: Ed Herman defs. Chris Price via submission (armbar) at 2:58 of round 1.
Welterweight Bout: Josh Burkman defs. Chad Reiner via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
Middleweight Bout: Nate Marquardt defs. Dean Lister via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-25, 30-25).

Main Card

Lightweight Bout: Hermes Franca defs. Spencer Fisher via TKO at 4:03 of round 2.
Heavyweight Bout: Jake O'Brien defs. Heath Herring via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).
Light Heavyweight Bout: Rashad Evans defs. Sean Salmon via KO (head kick) at 1:06 of round 2.

Salmon won the first round pretty convincingly as he worked his wrestling, keeping Evans back on the mat. The second round was a different story as Evans unleashed a high kick from hell knocking Salmon cold.
