Background

UFC Fight Night 19 (aka Ultimate Fight Night 19 and UFC Fight Night: Diaz vs. Guillard) is a 10-bout fight card that is set to take place on September 16, 2009 at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN.

The card will air live on Spike TV at 9pm Pacific/Eastern.

The card will be headlined by a lightweight bout between TUF 5 lightweight winner, Nate Diaz and TUF 2 veteran, Melvin Guillard.

This event will act as the lead in on SpikeTV for The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights.

The bout between between Roger Huerta and Gray Maynard is thought to be the last bout on Huerta's UFC contract, after which he has stated he will look to turn to acting.

The third fight between Steve Cantwell and Brian Stann was originally to take place at UFC: Fight for the Troops but an injury to Stann nixed the decider.

Jeremy Stephens was meant to face UFC newcomer, Ronnys Torres but an injury to Torres forced a replacement in the form of Justin Buchholz.

Chris Lytle had to pull out of his bout with Carlos Condit and was replaced by UFC newcomer, Jake Ellenberger.

Phillipe Nover was a short notice replacement for Kyle Bradley.

Dan Miller was forced to pull out on short notice against CB Dollaway with undefeated, Jay Silva filling in.

On the day of the event, Phillipe Nover suffered a seizure in the locker room which resulted in his fight with Sam Stout being cancelled.
