Pre-Event Notes
The main event of this card was originally to be Miletich product, Spencer Fisher facing Din Thomas. However a staph infection to Fisher prompted his removal and he was instead replaced with TUF 1's Kenny Florian.
Rumors abounded before the card that Chris Leben had turned down a rematch between him and Mike Swick. The two were instead given different opponents with Leben facing Terry Martin and Swick facing Jonathan Goulet. However an injury to Swick forced his removal and Goulet instead faced Jorge Gurgel protege, Dustin Hazelett on the show's undercard.
This was Thiago Alves's first bout since returning from a suspension related to a banned weight cutting supplement he was caught using after his UFC 66 victory over Tony DeSouza.
Nate Quarry was having his first fight in almost two years after suffering a severe back injury.
This was Nate Diaz's first appearance in the Octagon since taking The Ultimate Fighter Season 5 lightweight tournament.
