Background
UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 is a 10-bout fight card that is set to take place on December 27th, 2008 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The card will air live on pay-per-view at 7pm PT and 10pm ET and will be headlined by a light heavyweight title clash between TUF 1 winner, Forrest Griffin and TUF 2 winner, Rashad Evans. The co-main event will feature an interim heavyweight title clash between current interim champion and former PRIDE heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir.

Pre-Event Notes
This is the first time two TUF winners (Griffin and Evans) have faced off against each other for a UFC title.
The Interim title clash between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir was preceded by both fighters opposing each other on the 8th season of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.
The Nogueira/Mir bout will also determine the other "finalist" in the four-man UFC heavyweight "tournament" that was constructed by the UFC management upon the return of Randy Couture. The winner of the bout will face Brock Lesnar, sometime in 2009 to deterime the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.
Heavyweight, Antoni Hardonk was originally scheduled to face Mark Burch. Burch however, pulled out with an undisclosed injury a little over a week out from the bout and was replaced by Mike Wessel.

- Heavyweight Bout: Antoni Hardonk defeats Mike Wessel via TKO (punches) at 2.09 of round 2.

- Heavyweight Interim Championship Bout: Frank Mir defeates Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via TKO (punches) to become the UFC interim heavyweight champion and the first man to stop Nogueira.
- Light Heavyweight Championship Bout: Rashad Evans defeats Forrest Griffin via submission (punches) at 2.46 or round 3.
