Background

UFC 84: Ill Will was an 11-bout fight card that was held on May 24, 2008 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada

The card aired live on pay-per-view and was headlined by a UFC lightweight championship bout between champion, BJ Penn and former UFC lightweight champion, Sean Sherk.

Light heavyweight contests, Wanderlei Silva vs. Keith Jardine and Tito Ortiz vs. Lyoto Machida served as co-main events.

Rashad Evans was originally slated to face American Top Team's, Thiago Silva on the main card but was pulled from the card after accepting a bout with Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC 85. Evans was replaced with UFC virgin, Antonio Mendes.

Sean Sherk was returning for his first fight since testing positive for steroids following his UFC 73 victory over Hermes Franca to fight for the belt that was stripped from him following the CSAC's decision to suspend him.

British fighter Terry Etim was slated to face Jeremy Stephens first, Rob Emerson second, before finally being matched up against TUF 4's Rich Clementi.
