The card aired live on pay-per-view and was headlined by a UFC welterweight championship bout between champion, Georges St. Pierre and TUF 4 winner, Matt Serra.

A welterweight grudge match between TUF 1 competitors, Diego Sanchez and Josh Koscheck served as the co-main event.

Pre-Event Notes

UFC 69 was the first ever UFC card to be held in the state of Texas.

Georges St. Pierre was originally scheduled to defend his welterweight championship against Matt Serra at UFC 67 but the bout was post-poned due to an injury to GSP.

With Travis Lutter's failure to make weight for his title fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 67 , Matt Serra would become the first ever TUF winner to earn a shot at a UFC championship.

Roger Huerta was originally scheduled to face Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, Alvin Robinson instead of Leonard Garcia.
