Pre-Event Notes

Jeremy Horn returns to the UFC for the first time since being submitted by Elvis Sinosic at UFC 30 in 2001. He was given an immediate title shot due to him having been responsible for Liddell's first career loss when he choked him unconscious with an arm triangle choke at UFC 19 in 1999.

Randy Couture will fight in his first non-title UFC bout since stopping Vitor Belfort on strikes at UFC 15 in 1997.

Diego Sanchez will face Brian Gassaway in his first bout since winning The Ultimate Fighter 1.

Matt Lindland was originally to face Joe Riggs but Riggs was replaced by Doerksen after he pulled out with injury.
