Background
UFC 45: Revolution was an 8-bout fight card that was held on November 21, 2003 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The card aired live on pay-per-view and was headlined by a welterweight championship bout between champion, Matt Hughes and PRIDE veteran, Frank Trigg.
A heavyweight bout between UFC legend, David "Tank" Abbott vs. Iron-chinned, Wesley "Cabbage" Correira served as a co-main event.

Pre-Event Notes
This event marked the 10th Anniversary of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The introduction of the UFC Hall of Fame will be made at this event with UFC legends, Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock being the first two inductees.
With a win over Trigg, Hughes would equal the record of fifth successful title defenses held by Tito Ortiz.
Din Thomas was to face Yves Edwards but was replaced by Nick Agallar after he pulled out with injury.

- Middleweight Bout: Evan Tanner defs. Phil Baroni via TKO (strikes from mount) at 4:42 of round 1.
- Welterweight Bout: Robbie Lawler defs. Chris Lytle via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
- Heavyweight Bout: Wesley "Cabbage" Correira defs. Tank Abbott via TKO (cuts) at 2:14 of round 1.
- Middleweight Bout: Matt Lindland defs. Falaniko Vitale via submission (strikes) at 4:23 of round 3.
- Welterweight Championship Bout: Matt Hughes defs. Frank Trigg via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:54 of round 1 to retain his UFC welterweight championship.
Trigg scored an early takedown on Hughes but the champion was back to his feet quickly. After another scramble on the mat, Hughes achieved Trigg's back and while the challenger tried to stand, Hughes locked in the choke which had Trigg tapping as he fell back to the ground.
