Pre-Event Notes

UFC 100 was greeted with much fanfare but is an actual fact the 138th event put on by the UFC. However, in what some deem to be a mighty coincedence UFC 100 is in fact the 100th show put on by the ZUFFA controlled, Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Prior to the event, former UFC light heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell and TapouT's Charles "Mask" Lewis were the 6th and 7th inductees into the UFC Hall of Fame.

The heavyweight main event between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir was originally scheduled for UFC 98 but an injury to Mir post-poned the bout.

Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson were rival coaches on TUF 9 to hype their bout at this event.

Dong Hyun Kim was to face Canadian, Jonathan Goulet but an injury to Goulet forced his replacement in fellow Canadian, TJ Grant.

St. Pierre used lightning fast takedowns and dominating ground control to wear Alves down for the full five rounds. On the feet GSP dropped the highly touted striker to completely dominate the bout. Amazingly, GSP severely tore his groin in the fourth round but continued to still dominate Alves positionally for the rest of the fight.

  • UFC Heavyweight Championship Bout: Brock Lesnar defs. Frank Mir via TKO (punches) at 1:48 of round 2 to remain the UFC heavyweight champion.

Lesnar completely smothered Mir's jiu-jitsu from half guard in the opening round while landing short hard punches to Mir's unprotected head. In the second round, Mir landed an excellent flying knee that looked to have Lesnar hurt, but Lesnar got the fight to the mat and pinned Mir's arms and wailed away until Mir was unable to defend earning the victory.

Fitch vs. Thiago was delayed until after the main event due to feared time problems with the main event.
