Background

UFC: The Final Chapter (aka Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter) was a 9-bout fight card held on October 10, 2006 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The card aired lived on SpikeTV and was headlined by a light heavyweight grudge match between former UFC light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz and UFC Hall of Famer, Ken Shamrock.

Pre-Event Notes

This card was announced at the weigh-ins of UFC 62 with the third fight between Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock coming about after the less than satisfactory ending to their UFC 61 clash that Ortiz by what many deemed was an early stoppage.

On the undercard, Nate Marquardt was originally scheduled to face Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, Thales Leites but visa issues meant Leites could not take part. He was instead replaced by Crafton Wallace.

Ortiz started the pout by seizing a body lock on Shamrock and then carrying him across the cage. After he dumped him on his back, Ortiz began to use the ground and pound he had become reknowned for. Shamrock attempted one leg lock but was ultimately stopped soon after.
