Tom "The Filthy Mauler" Lawlor (born May 15, 1982) is an American professional mixed martial artist and former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.

He stands 6 ft. (183 cm) tall and fights in the middleweight division (185 lbs.).

Lawlor currently competes as a middleweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Tom Lawlor made his professional mixed martial arts debut on March 10, 2007 for the Kick Enterprises promotion. His debut went to an unsatisfying No Contest against future WEC light heavyweight title challenger, Ariel Gandulla.

Lawlor picked up his first professional victory under a month later as he submitted Jonathan Fernandez with a rear naked choke in the first round.

In his next two bouts Lawlor picked up two TKO victories. He followed that up with his first professional defeat when he was disqualifed in just 24 seconds against future fellow TUF 8 competitor, Shane Primm.

Under a month later Lawlor pushed his record to 4-1 (1 NC) with a technical submission (rear naked choke) over Travis Bartlett.

The Ultimate Fighter

Midway through 2008, Lawlor signed on as one 16 light heavyweight contestants for season eight of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.

In the preliminary round Lawlor defeated Ryan Lopez via first round rear naked choke to earn his place in the house.

On Episode 3, Lawlor faced Ryan Bader in the first light heavyweight quarter final. Bader outwrestled Lawlor in the early part of the first round and put his lights out near the end of the round when he launched a huge right hand on the grounded Lawlor.

Although he was out of the competition Lawlor still attracted focus from the in house cameras as he pissed in his own fruit tray and made Team Nogueira eat it and took shots of piss with Dave Kaplan before knocking him out cold on his insistance.

At The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale Lawlor faced Team Nogueira's Kyle Kingsbury. Lawlor outworked and outwrestled Kingsbury for three rounds to earn himself a unanimous decision victory.

UFC

Lawlor will get his first post-TUF UFC career underway at UFC 100 when he makes his middleweight debut against TUF 7 runner-up, CB Dollaway on the show's undercard.
