Takafumi Otsuka is a Japanese mixed martial artist and trains out of Abe Ani Combat Club.
He stands 5 ft. x in. tall and fights in the featherweight division (139 lbs.) for the Japanese based, DREAM organization.
Early Career
Takafumi Otsuka made his professional mixed martial arts debut on October 4, 2006 for the Japan based MARS organization. In a disappointing debut, he suffered a rear naked choke loss to Tashiro Nishiuchi in the second round.
Things didn't fare any better in his next fight as he lost a unanimous decision to Toshiaki Kitada in December of 2006.
Otsuka picked up his first professional victory under two weeks later as he picked up a unanimous decision for himself over Luiz Andrade I at a MARS event.
In May of 2007, Otsuka travelled to Brazil and Fury FC promotion where he picked up his first stoppage victory in a TKO over Leandro Issa.
Just under a month later he returned to the Japanese, DEEP promotion where he submitted Motomare Takahashi with a rear naked choke in the first round.
After fighting to a draw in his next DEEP bout, Otsuka returned to Brazil where he again picked up a TKO victory, this time over Rodrigo Ruiz at Fury FC 5.
A submission and a TKO win followed on the Japanese circuit before losing his third professional bout via split decision to future UFC competitor, Rafael dos Anjos in another Fury FC event.
In October of 2008, Otsuka picked up a quality victory over tough Japanese fighter Masanori Kanehara via split decision. He followed that impressive victory with another over the highly regarded, Shoji Maruyama in December of that year.
DREAM
Otsuka will next compete as a part of the DREAM 2009 Featherweight (139 lbs.) 16 man tournament. Otsuka will face Bibiano Fernandes in the opening round at DREAM 7 on March 8, 2009.
