Profile

Shane "The Engineer" Carwin (born January 4, 1975) is an American professional mixed martial artist.

He stands 6 ft. 4 in. (193 cm) tall and weighs approximately 265 lbs. (120 kg.) and currently fights as a heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Shane Carwin made his professional mixed martial arts debut on October 14, 2005 against Carlton Jones at WEC 17. He defeated Jones via submission due to strikes at 2.11 of round 1.

Carwin fought on a variety of smaller shows in his next 7 bouts, defeating all of his opponents in under two minutes. Carwin's longest bout in that time was a 1.41 TKO victory over UFC veteran Sherman Pendergarst at Ring of Fire 31 in December of 2007.

UFC Career

Carwin made his much awaited UFC debut on the undercard of UFC 84, against Christian Wellisch.

It was thought before the bout that Wellisch could pose some stylistic problems for Carwin if and when the fight were to hit the mat. However, the fight never made it to the mat as Carwin landed a crushing right hand 44 seconds into the first round which ended Wellisch's night.

In what was deemed by many to be a squash match, Carwin did just that at UFC 89: Bisping vs. Leben when he squashed British fighter, Neil Wain in just over a minute of round 1.
