Profile

Ross "The Real Deal" Pearson (born September 26, 1984) is a British professional mixed martial artist training out of the Sunderland Jiu Jitsu and MMA Club.

He stands 5 ft. 8 in. (173cm) tall and fights in the lightweight division (155 lbs.).

Pearson is currently a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom.

Early Career

Ross Pearson made his professional mixed martial arts debut on December 12, 2004 for the House of Pain promotion. He was defeated via choke submission by opponent, Chris Hughes.

Pearson earned his first professional win nine months later when he scored a decision victory over Will Burke as part of a one night four-man tournament held by the Goshin Ryu promotion. He suffered his second professional defeat later that night when he was stopped on strikes by Kurt Walburton in the final.

Pearson bounced back from the indifferent start to his career with six consecutive victories lasting up until October, 2008. Amidst that streak he finished all six of his opponents with the majority of the wins coming via submission.

On October 4, 2008, Pearson's win streak was snapped by tough British fighter, Abdul Mohammed when he found himself on the wrong side of a unanimous judge's decision.

Just under a month later, Pearson got back on track with a rear naked choke victory over Ian Jones.

The Ultimate Fighter

In late 2008, Pearson was selected as a lightweight contestant for the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom. He earned his way onto Team UK with a second round TKO stoppage of AJ Wenn in the preliminary round.

On episode 7, Pearson earned his way into the lightweight semi-finals when he submitted Richie Whitson with an armbar in the first round.
