Profile

"Razor" Razak Al-Hassan (born x, x) is an American professional mixed martial artist and brown belt in Tae Kwon Do...

He stands 6 ft. 2 in. (188 cm) tall and fights in the light heavyweight division (205 lbs.).

Al-Hassan currently fights as a light heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Razak Al-Hassan made his professional mixed martial arts debut at Royal Fight Night 2 on February 10, 2007. He quickly scored his first professional victory as he submitted Andy Stock in just 54 seconds.

Al-Hassan closed out 2007 with two more victories to remain unbeaten before starting 2008 much the same way as he scored three more victories by the end of September with no bout making it out of the second round.

UFC

After missing a chance to replace Tomasz Drwal at UFC 87 in August against Andre Gusmao, Al-Hassan was called to replace former WEC light heavyweight champion, Brian Stann at UFC: Fight for the Troops against the last ever WEC light heavyweight champion, Steve Cantwell. Al-Hassan came out quickly throwing a lot of quick - albeit slightly weak - kicks. Cantwell took his time before landing some good shots and getting the fight to the ground. Here the difference in skill sets became clear as Cantwell quickly got to mount and seized an arm. Al-Hassan fought the armbar but after a sickening amount of torque was applied the referee halted the bout.

Al-Hassan will return at UFC 104 when he faces TUF 8's Kyle Kingsbury.
