Early Career
Mike Russow made his professional mixed martial arts debut on April 25, 1998 at the Jeet Kune Do Challenge in Chicago. After three rounds, Russow earned himself a unanimous decision win over Nate Schroeder.
Almost an eight year break from fighting would follow before Russow finally got back into action in February of 2006 as he fought Ed Meyer to a disappointing No Contest.
Taking a much shorter gap before fighting again, Russow notched his second win two months later as he knocked out Brandon Quigley in just 18 seconds.
By the end of January, 2007, Russow has scored two more wins - both via submission - to push his record to 4-0 (1 NC).
PRIDE and Adrenaline
Despite only having a few fights, Russow was picked up by the PRIDE Fighting Championships for their second and last US show, PRIDE 33. He was matched against highly ranked heavyweight competitor, Sergey Kharitonov and was submitted with an armbar at 3:46 of round 1 to mark his first professional loss.
Russow got back on track three months later as he scored the first of what would be four straight victories to close out 2007. The last of those four bouts came on New Year's Eve at Yarennoka! against PRIDE veteran, Roman Zentsov. Russow impressively submitted Zentsov with a north/south choke in 2:58 of round 1.
Six months later, Russow headlined the inaugural Adrenaline MMA event. He faced Jason Guida - who was a late replacement for Jeff Monson - and submitted him with a guillotine choke in 2:13 of round 1.
In his final bout for 2008, Russow dominated Braden Bice at AMMA 2 winning via first round north/south choke.
UFC
In 2009 it was announced that Russow had signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He will make his debut at UFC 102 when he faces off against Justin McCully on the show's undercard.
