Mike Ciesnolevicz (born October 28, 1979) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of Miletich Martial Arts.
He stands 6 ft. (183 cm) tall and fights in the light heavyweight division (205 lbs.).
Ciesnolevicz in an IFL veteran and currently competes as a light heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Early Career
Mike Ciesnolevicz made his professional mixed martial arts debut at Reality Fighting 5 on November 1, 2003. He defeated his opponent, Romeo Gray, via referee stoppage in 1:23 of round 1.
After fighting just the once in 2004 (a submission win over Todd Going) Ciesnolevicz had a more productive 2005 as he fought three times scoring three decision victories.
In April of 2006, Ciesnolevicz picked up two victories - TKOs over Kevin Nesius and Rich Weeks.
IFL
In June of 2006, Ciesnolevicz made his first appearance for the International Fight League. He faced decorated wrestler, Reese Andy in his IFL debut and suffered the first loss of his career as he went down via split decision after three, four minute rounds.
A victory in the Extreme Challenge promotion lay in between his first and second IFL appearances. His second IFL fight saw Ciesnolevicz go down via TKO in the second round to the undefeated, Andre Gusmao.
Ciesnolevicz picked up his first IFL victory just over a month later as he submitted Beau Beauparlant with a guillotine choke in the first round.
He made it two guillotine choke victories in a row as he put Aaron Stark to sleep in the third round of their bout just under two months later.
In February of 2007, Ciesnolevicz scored a split decision win over TUF 1's Alex Schoenauer. That win was followed by a TKO stoppage of Adam Maciejewski at an IFL event held in Chicago.
In August of 2007, Ciesnolevicz made it five victories in a row when he scored another split decision win over Schoenauer.
His win streak was snapped the next month as he was knocked out in just 53 seconds with a knee in a rematch with Andre Gusmao.
At a show in New Jersey in April of 2008, Ciesnolevicz had his last bout for the IFL with the fight ending in a disappointing No Contest due to an accidental headbutt against UFC veteran, Carmelo Marrero.
UFC
Following his departure from the sinking IFL, Ciesnolevicz fought three more times in 2008 scoring three first round finishes to improve his record to an impressive 16-3 (1 NC).
The UFC quickly came calling and signed him on short notice to face goliath, Neil Grove at UFC 95. Fighting for the first time as a heavyweight, Ciesnolevicz made quick work of Grove as he submitted his monstrous opponent with a nasty heel hook in 1:03 of round 1.
Following the bout, Ciesnolevicz announced his intentions to drop back to the light heavyweight division. He will make his return to the division at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale when he faces Polish slugger, Tomasz Drwal on the show's undercard.
