Profile
Marvin "The Beastman" Eastman (born July 16, 1971) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of Lewis/Pederneiras Vale Tudo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He stands 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm) tall and fights in the middleweight (185 lbs.) division.
Eastman is a King of the Cage and UFC veteran. He currently competes for no major promotion.
Early Career
Marvin Eastman made his professional mixed martial arts debut on June 24, 2000 at a King of the Cage event. He faced fellow debutant, Quinton Jackson and after two rounds was judged the unanimous decision victor.
Eastman followed his succesful debut with two more victories in the King of the Cage organization before losing his first bout at KOTC 8 against PRIDE veteran, Vernon White. After three, five minute rounds, Eastman found himself on the losing end of a split decision.
That loss was followed by another as he was submitted with an armbar by Rich Franklin in just 1:02 of round 1.
Eastman got back on track by closing out 2002 with dominating victories over Tom Sauer (TKO) and Alex Stiebling (KO).
UFC (2003 - 2004)
With a 5-2 start to his career, Eastman found himself with a call-up to the UFC. He was matched up against "The Phenom" Vitor Belfort at UFC 43 and was demolished in just 1:03 of round 1 with a knee - that opened an axe wound-like cut above his eye - and follow up punches.
Eastman headed outside the UFC to earn revenge in a unanimous decision win over Vernon White at a King of the Cage bout before returning at UFC 50 in October of 2004. He faced Travis Lutter at the event and after a lacklustre first round was knocked cold by a punch that just caught his nose :43 into round 2.
2005 - 2006
Eastman departed from the UFC after the loss and rebounded from the Lutter defeat to pick up a TKO win over Vincent Lawler in March of 2005.
Defeat would come calling again two months later though, as he would drop a split decision to Jason Lambert.
Putting the Lambert loss behind him, Eastman went on an impressive five fight win streak after the loss that included decision wins over Jason MacDonald, Alan Belcher and Travis Wiuff. The latter earning Eastman the Elite Fighting Light Heavyweight Championship.
Eastnman's streak was snapped by Jason Guida in April of 2006 when Guida submitted him with a guillotine choke in the third round in a World Extreme Fighting championship bout.
Eastman immediately avenged the loss and gained the belt though as he defeated Guida via unanimous decision just over two months later.
In July, 2006, Eastman faced off against Jorge Oliveira for the ill-fated World Fighting Alliance promotion. The bout ended in a draw and soon after the organization was bought out by Zuffa with Eastman being once again signed to the UFC.
UFC (2007 - 2008)
In his first UFC bout since 2004, Eastman met the man he defeated in his professional debut, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, on the main card of UFC 67. The bout was a completely different story this time around as the immeasurably improved Jackson disposed of Eastman in the second round with a flurry that ended in Eastman out cold.
Eastman decided that competing at light heavyweight was no longer an option and dropped to middleweight for a bout against Rob Kimmons for the IFO middleweight championship. Eastman defeated Kimmons via unanimous decision after five rounds to capture the title.
The win kept Eastman's UFC career alive as he returned at UFC 81 on the show's preliminary bouts against Terry Martin. The lacklustre bout went the distance with Eastman earning his first UFC victory via unanimous decision.
Four months later, Eastman faced wrecking machine, Drew McFedries at The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale. Eastman was unable to withstand the McFedries blitzkrieg and was knocked out at 1:08 of round 1.
2008 - Present
With a UFC record of 1-4, Eastman was again out of the UFC and in his first post-UFC bout he faced former PRIDE star, Denis Kang at a Raw Combat event. He did not get the result he wanted as he was stopped in just 48 seconds.
After a bout in December, 2008 against Ricardo Arona fell through due to an injury to Eastman, "Beastman" got back in the win column at an MFC event in May of 2009 as he stopped Aron Lofton with elbows to improve his record to 16-9-1.
Eastman will return to action in September as the main event of a Bitetti Combat event held in Brazil. He will face the returning Ricardo Arona, who he was meant to fight at the end of 2008.
