USWF and ROF

Unified Shoot Wrestling Federation 15 on May 1, 1999 played host to, Greg Jackson trained, Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia's (born July 14, 1979) first professional MMA bout. And his second, when following an Armbar win over Chris Cantrell, Garcia then lost a decision to Brent Medley. Leonard then began alternatively competing in the Ring of Fire promotion and the USWF.

The "Bad Boy", who's nickname may or may not have to do with federal cocaine smuggling charges once brought against him (he was acquitted), built a reputation for submissions winning four in a row that way.

On June, 30, 2001, Garcia made his first appearance in the WEC at the organization's inaugural event, beating Victor Estrada by KO in the second round. At this point the pace of Garcia's career slowed, and he fought only three times between 2002 and year-end 2006. The "Bad boy" won all three Ring of Fire matches, including submissions against Justin James and Rocky Johnson.

UFC and WEC

The Ultimate Fighting Championship gave Garcia a three-fight deal beginning with an April, 2007 match against Roger Huerta. The contest ended with Leonard suffering his second loss, by unanimous decision. His next UFC match was a dominating performance against the over-matched Alan Berubie. With an Octagon record of 1-1 the "Bad Boy" was assigned a do-or-die fight with rising star Cole Miller.

Subsequent to a unanimous decision loss to Miller, Garcia dropped to Featherweight and starting working full time with the WEC. Since making the transition Leonard has looked great with back to first round knockouts Hiroyuki Takaya and the legendary Jens Pulver. Garcia is widely considered to be the number one contender in the WEC Featherweight division.
