Early Career
Kyle Kingsbury made his professional mixed martial arts debut on June 10, 2006 at a Rage in the Cage event held in Arizona. His career got off to an impressive start as he knocked Jos Tsosie out with a knee to the body in the first round.
Kingsbury followed his successful debut with four more victories in the Rage in the Cage promotion, culminating in a 19 second rear naked choke of Rocky Batastini.
To open 2007, Kingsbury moved over to the King of the Cage organization where he made his debut against Angelo Mcleroy who he submitted with a rear naked choke.
After a No Contest and another victory in his next two bouts, Kingsbury suffered the first defeat of his professional career when he was stopped with punches by Tony Lopez at a KOTC event.
The Ultimate Fighter
In 2008, Kingsbury was picked up as one of 16 light heavyweights for The Ultimate Fighter 8. Things did not go to plan for Kingsbury though as he faced off against good friend, Ryan Bader for a place in the house but was submitted with an arm triangle choke in the second round.
Kingsbury was fortunate however that Karn Grigoryan suffered a broken hand as he was brought back to replace him.
After alienating the majority of the viewing audience in episode 8 when he ejaculated onto some sushi, Kingsbury would go on to fail to capitalize on his second chance as he was submitted by Krzystof Soszynski.
Brought back for The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale, Kingsbury met Tom Lawlor. Lawlor used his superior wrestling to keep Kingsbury working from his back which ultimately ended in a unanimous decision win for Lawlor.
UFC
Despite the loss, Kingsbury kept his UFC contract and will look to hold on to it at UFC 104 in October, 2009, when he faces Razak Al-Hassan.
