Profile
Junie "The Lunatic" Browning (born December 31, 1984) is an American professional mixed martial artist and a castmember on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.
He stands 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm) tall and fights in the lightweight division. He made it to the semi finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir and currently fights as a lightweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Early Career
Junie Browning made his professional mixed martial arts debut on January 19, 2008 against Logan Berger at a Freestyle Cage Fighting event. In just over a minute, Browning sent Berger to the mat with a right high kick. The ref halted the bout soon after to award Browning his first professional victory.
At an AFL event, just under two months later, Browning defeated Dustin Walden via arm bar submission in the first round.
The Ultimate Fighter
In 2008, Browning was selected as a contestant for the 8th season of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.
Browning's round of 16 fight came against Jose Aguilar. The bout was given the biggest build up of the preliminary fights with both fighters having some interesting comments pre-fight.
The fight was far less two-sided as Browning overwhelmed Aguilar in every facet of the ground. Aguilar quit on his stool at the end of the first round to award Browning the TKO victory and a place in the house.
Soon after entering the house, havoc began to ensue as Browning + alcohol proved to be a volatile mix. Browning's drunken exploits and temper tantrums almost got him eliminated twice from the competition before having fought a quarter final bout.
When Browning finally got his oppurtunity to step into the cage again, he failed to impress as he fought the lowly, Rolando Delgado to a split decision victory.
Browning made a habit of ridiculing fellow contestant, Efrain Escudero's fighting style during the show. Going as far as labelling Escudero an "Ultimate Wrestler". The two faced off against each other in the semi-finals however, with Efrain dominating the fight, eventually winning via D'Arce choke in the second round.
After threatening to retire following the loss to Efrain, Browning instead decided to re-focus and move to Las Vegas and the Xtreme Couture gym. His first fight out of that gym will be at The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale against fellow cast member, Dave Kaplin.
