Johny Hendricks (born December 9, 1983) is an American professional mixed martial artist and former 4x Division 1 All American Wrestler training out of Team TakeDown and Xtreme Couture.
He stands 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm) tall and fights in the welterweight division (170 lbs.).
Hendricks is a WEC veteran and currently competes as a welterweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Early Career and WEC
Johny Hendricks made his professional mixed martial arts debut on September 28, 2007 for the Masters of the Cage promotion. He stopped his opponent, Victor Ratcliff, with punches in the third round to earn his first career victory.
Hendricks closed out 2007 with a TKO win over Spencer Cowley and then opened 2008 with a Brabo choke submission over Richard Gamble.
In late 2008, Hendricks signed to fight as a welterweight for the ZUFFA owned and operated, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) organization.
He made his WEC debut at WEC 37 in December, 2008. He faced off against Justin Haskins and defeated Haskins via TKO in the second round.
At WEC 39, Hendricks faced off against Alex Serdyukov. Hendricks used his superior wrestling to control the fight and earn himself a comfortable unanimous decision win.
UFC Career
When ZUFFA folded the WEC's welterweight and middleweight divisions into the UFC, Hendricks' contract was transferred over.
He will make his UFC debut at UFC 101, in August, 2009, when he faces TUF 7 middleweight winner, Amir Sadollah on the main card.
