Profile

Jim Miller (born August 30, 1983) is an American professional mixed martial artist.

He stands 5 ft. 8 in. (173 cm) tall and currently fights as a lightweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He is the younger brother of UFC middleweight and former IFL middleweight champion, Dan Miller.

Early Career

Miller made his professional mixed martial arts debut on the November 19, 2005 against Eddie Fyvie for the Reality Fighting promotion. Miller defeated Fyvie via unanimous decision after two rounds.

After securing two first round submission wins in his next two fights, Miller faced off against Muhsin Corbbrey for the Reality Fighting featherweight title. Midway through the second round, Miller secured an arm bar from mount which forced Corbbrey to tap, awarding Miller the belt.

Miller never defended his Reality Fighting featherweight title, instead deciding to move up a weight class and face Frankie Edgar for the Reality Fighting lightweight title. Miller almost finished Edgar with a guillotine choke, late in the third and final round but Edgar survived and was judged the unanimous victor, earning him the lightweight belt.

Miller rebounded from his first career loss to defeat Al Buck via rear naked choke at 1.58 of round 1 at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 4 in April of 2007. Miller fought three more times in 2007, securing finishes in all three fights.

In early 2008, Miller was offered a fight at UFC Fight Night 13 against Marcus Aurelio after Spencer Fisher had to pull out of the fight with Aurelio. Miller was however pulled from that bout after the UFC was alerted that Miller was under contract with the International Fight League (IFL). Miller was replaced by Ryan Roberts.

Miller made his first and last appearance for the IFL at their April 4th show, where he scored a decision victory over the more favored, Bart Palaszewski after three four minute rounds.

UFC Career

Due to the collapse of the IFL, Jim Miller effectively became a free agent.

On July 23, 2008, the UFC signed Jim and his brother Dan, to a four fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Miller's UFC debut came against French veteran, David Baron at UFC 89. Miller impressed by defeating his more experienced opponent with a Rear Naked Choke in round 3. The win earned Miller the $40,000 submission of the night bonus.
