Profile

Jason High is an American professional mixed martial artist training with Team Bodyshop in Lakewood, CA, and coached by Antonio McKee.

He stands 5 ft. 9 in. tall and fights in the welterweight division (170 lbs.).

High is a veteran of Affliction and DREAM and currently fights as one of the welterweight competitors in DREAM's 2009 Welterweight Grand Prix.

Early Career

Jason High made his professional mixed martial arts debut for the All Fighting Championships on September 24, 2005. He submitted opponent, Shaw Westbrook with a rear naked choke in the second round.

He followed that victory with a unanimous decision win over Bryce Teager at a VFC event in February of 2006.

His next two fights were against future UFC competitors, James Giboo and Kevin Burns. He scored impressive victories in both bouts, submitting Giboo with a rear naked choke and stopping Burns at the end of the second round.

In February of 2008, High KO'd Troy Acker in just 24 seconds of round 1, which he followed up with a 45 second guillotine choke submission win over Markhaile Wedderburn four months later.

Affliction and DREAM

On January 24, 2009, High faced off against former IFL welterweight champion, Jay Hieron as part of Affliction: Day of Reckoning. The biggest bout of High's career did not last long as he was knocked unconscious with punches by Hieron in just 1:04 of round 1.

In March of 2009, High was named as one of 8 competitors in Japan based, DREAM's, 2009 Welterweight Grand Prix. He faced Japanese qualifier, Yuya Shirai in the opening round at DREAM 8 on April 5. High completely obliterated Shirai, knocking him down early with punches and then seizing a rear naked choke which put the Japanese fighter to sleep at the 59 second mark of round 1.
