Profile
Jared Hamman (born x, 19xx) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of Vladimir Matyushenko's VMAT team.
He stands 6 ft. x in. (x cm) tall and fights in the light heavyweight division (205 lbs.).
Hamman is an EliteXC veteran and currently competes as a light heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Early Career and EliteXC
Jared Hamman made his professional mixed martial arts debut on April 29, 2006 for the California Xtreme Fighting promotion. He defeated his opponent, Ray Lizama, via cut stoppage in the second round.
A bit over a month later, Hamman made his Strikeforce debut where he picked up his first definitive victory when he stopped Scott Graham 1:36 into the second frame.
After three more victories in 2006, Hamman opened 2007 with a TKO over Paul Mince and a victory in a one night, four man tournament held by the IFC promotion. Hamman defeated Rogent Lloret and Travis Wiuff via second round knockout to take the title.
EliteXC
The undefeated start to his career earned Hamman a contract with EliteXC. He made his debut for the promotion on one of their ShoXC Challenger events and made it a successful one as he submitted Aaron Rosa with a rear naked choke.
In April, 2008, Hamman met Pancrase veteran, Poai Suganuma at a ShoXC event and was defeated for the first time in his career when he was caught with a flying knee 15 seconds into the fight and knocked out.
A rematch was set up between the two as the main event for a ShoXC event in August, 2008. Hamman atoned for his first career loss by pounding out Suganuma midway through the first round.
UFC
Originally to face Rafael Cavalcante at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields in June, 2009, Hamman had to pull out of the bout due to injury. He would later be released from his Strikeforce contract and would instead sign with the UFC. He will make his UFC debut at UFC 105 in November, against UFC newcomer, Alexander Gustafsson.
