Igor Pokrajac (born January 2, 1979) is a Croatian professional mixed martial artist training under Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic.
He stands 6 ft. (183cm) tall and fights in the light heavyweight division (205 lbs.).
Pokrajac currently fights as a light heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Early Career
Igor Pokrajac made his professional mixed martial arts debut on February 9, 2003 for the Croatia based, Strabag Free Fight promotion. He defeated his opponent, Nik Peric, via TKO in the first round to successfully kick off his career.
In his next professional outing, Pokrajac emerged the victor at a one night, eight-man tournament called the Duranta World Grand Prix. He defeated all three opponents via TKO in a combined time of 10 minutes.
Almost a year later, Pokrajac suffered his first professional defeat when he was knocked out by Miodrag Petkovic in the second round.
A bounce back victory over Peter Cakic followed before Pokrajac was again defeated by Petkovic via TKO.
Two months later in July, 2005, Pokrajac scored his first submission victory as he submitted Branislav Zerman with a rear naked choke.
That win was unfortunately followed by another defeat which dropped his record to 6-3.
After closing out 2005 with a submission victory, Pokrajac went 3-1 in 2006. He won his first three fights but was defeated via split decision in the last against PRIDE veteran, Assuerio Silva.
Over 2007 and 2008 Pokrajac would only suffer one defeat while picking up nine victories. The lone loss came to Polish prospect, Mamed Khalidov via kneebar midway through 2007.
Pokrajac opened his 2009 campaign with two first round victories to improve to a very respectable 21-5.
UFC
In August, 2009, it was announced that Pokrajac had been signed by the UFC to face former light heavyweight title contender, Vladimir Matyushenko on the undercard of UFC 103.
