Profile

Frank "The Tank" Lester (born June 10, 1984) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of Undisputed Fitness and Training in San Diego, California.

He stands 5 ft. 11 in. (180 cm) tall and fights in the welterweight division (170 lbs.).

Lester is currently a welterweight contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom.

Early Career

Frank Lester made his professional mixed martial arts debut on June 8, 2007 at Total Combat 21. He went down in his debut via unanimous decision to opponent, Chuck Graves after three, three minute rounds.

A little under two months later, Lester dropped his second bout when his corner stopped the fight at the end of the first around against Nick Braker.

Lester picked up his first professional victory at Cage of Fire 12 in May of 2008 as he stopped Cesar Uruilla via TKO in the first round.

Lester knocked out Cosmo Chiles in his next bout before defeating Lance Evans - brother of Rashad Evans - in September of 2008.

The Ultimate Fighter

Lester tried out and failed to make the shortlist of 16 welterweight competitors for season nine of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom in late 2008.

However, when Christian Fulgium failed to make weight for his preliminary bout, Lester was brought in as an alternate to face Kiel Reid for a spot in the house. Midway through the first round, Lester gained control of a kimura on the feet. Reid responded by slamming Lester to the floor but knocked himself out in the process. The referee did not realise and Lester torqued the kimura viciously on the helpless Reid and once the referee realised Reid was unconscious he stopped the bout.

In the quarter finals, Lester faced James Wilks and had his fake teeth knocked out with a big knee from Wilks in the first round. After some repairs on the mouth guard in between rounds, Lester came out tentatively for the second. Wilks capitalized and got the fight to the ground where he picked up an armbar submission win forcing Lester out of the competition.
