Early Career

Eliot Marshall began his professional mixed martial arts career on February 11, 2006 at Ring of Fire 21 against Jarrett Kelton. Marshall made Kelton tap to strikes at 2:07 of the first round.

Four months later, Marshall submitted Mike Altman with a keylock at Ring of Fire 24 in the first round. That win was followed by a rear naked choke victory over Dan Green in December.

Marshall began 2007 with a first round TKO over Damir Mihajlovic at ROF 28. A rear naked choke over Marcus Sursa in April pushed Marshall's record to 5-0.

On December 1, 2007, Marshall suffered his first professional defeat as he went down via TKO to TUF 2 castmember and UFC veteran, Rob MacDonald in the second round.

The Ultimate Fighter

In 2008, Marshall was picked up as a light heavyweight contestant for the 8th season of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.

In the preliminary round, Marshall faced Armenian, Karn Grigoryan for a spot in the house. Marshall seemed to dominate the fight on the ground and on the feet for three rounds, however at the conclusion of the third, the judges strangely awarded Grigoryan the split decision victory.

A fortunate Marshall was called back into the house after Antwain Britt suffered a hand injury forcing his withdrawal from the competition.

In the quarter finals on Episode 5, coach, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira chose Shane Primm from his team to face Marshall. Marshall wasted no time in securing Primm's back and choking him out to move into the semi-finals.

At the semi-final stage, Marshall faced Nogueira's, Ryan Bader. In a very lacklustre bout, Bader controlled all three rounds with takedowns and little work in Marshall's guard. Bader was awarded the unanimous decision and a spot in the finals, while Marshall was eliminated from the competition.

Marshall was called back for The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale, where he faced fellow castmember and MMA debutant, Jules Bruchez. In a one-sided fight, Marshall dominated all areas before eventually tapping Bruchez with a rear naked choke at the 1:27 mark of round 1.

UFC Career

Marshall will have his first post-TUF, UFC fight at UFC 97 on April 18, 2009 when he faces fellow TUF 8 castmember, Vinny Magalhaes..
