DaMarques "Darkness" Johnson (born June 28, 1982) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of the Elite Performance team in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He stands 6 ft. (183cm) tall and fights in the welterweight division (170 lbs.).

Johnson is currently a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom.

Early Career

DaMarques Johnson made his professional mixed martial arts debut on April 29, 2005 for the X Fighting Championships. He was defeated in his debut by opponent, Paul Purcell by TKO in just 17 seconds of round 1.

Three months later, Johnson had his second bout, losing via keylock submission to highly regarded welterweight, Brock Larson.

DaMarques picked up his first professional victory when he defeated David Rodrique via submission due to strikes at a King of the Cage event on October 1, 2005.

He would drop two out of his next three bouts to the same person, Justin Wright to make his record a disappointing 2-4. He would even his record up to 4-4 in his next two fights before dropping below .500 with a front choke submission loss to Court McGee in June of 2007.

Johnson finally began putting some wins on the board after the McGee loss as he picked up five consecutive victories with no bout making it out of the second round.

On October 18, 2008, Johnson suffered his sixth career loss when he was on the losing end of a decision to Ryan Williams at an Extreme Challenge event.

The Ultimate Fighter

In late 2008, DaMarques was selected as a welterweight contestant for the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom. He defeated Ray Elbe in his preliminary bout via TKO to earn a spot in the house as part of Team USA.

On Episode 5, Johnson earned a spot in the semi finals when he submitted Team UK's Dean Amasinger with a triangle choke in the first round.
