Profile

Cole Province (born January 17, 1981) is an American professional mixed martial artist and was a 4x NCAA Division 2 National Champion.

He stands 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm) tall and fights in the featherweight division (145 lbs.).

Province currently competes as a featherweight for the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) promotion.

Early Career

Cole Province made his professional mixed martial arts debut on July 28, 2007 for the C3 Fights promotion. He forced his opponent, Matt Ott, to submit to strikes in just 1:36 of the first round.

Two months later, Province faced off against Aaron Williams for the Masters of the Cage featherweight championship. The two fought into deep waters with Province eventually coming out on top via submission midway through the fourth round to take the title.

Province's next three bouts came for the Freestyle Cage Fighting promotion. He scored victories in all three bouts with all the bouts ending within the distance.

WEC

In December, 2008, Province made his debut for the WEC. He faced off against fellow undefeated fighter, Diego Nunes at WEC 37. Nunes was all over Province and ran away a unanimous decision victory, giving Province his first career loss.

At WEC 42, Province faced grappling standout, Fredson Paixao on the show's undercard. Province stayed out of Paixao's dangerous ground game and muscled out a three round unanimous decision win.

After the bout, Province was found to have tested positive for the anabolic steroid, Methasterone. He stated he would cop the punishment but was unaware he had consumed a banned substance.
