Profile

Chris Tuchscherer (born September 8, 1975) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of Minnesota Martial Arts Academy.

He stands 6 ft. 2 in. (190 cm) tall and fights in the heavyweight division at approximately 265 lbs..

Tuchscherer was the YAMMA Pit Fighting Heavyweight Tournament Runner-Up and currently fights as heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career

Chris Tuchscherer made his professional mixed martial arts debut on June 12, 2004 at a Minnesota based event. He defeated future UFC competitor, Krzysztof Soszynski via decision after three rounds.

Fighting six times in 2005, Tuchscherer was victorious in all six outings with only one bout making it out of the first round.

After a No Contest with Josh Hendricks to open 2007, Tuchscherer continued on his winning ways as won three more bouts before taking the Extreme Challenge heavyweight championship with a rear naked choke submission of Jimmy Ambriz.

Tuchscherer opened his 2008 with a unanimous decision win over the "Ironman" Travis Fulton to push his record to an imposing 12-0 (1 NC).

In April, 2008, Tuchscherer entererd YAMMA Pit Fighting's one night, eight man heavyweight tournament. Due to the regulated state of MMA, the rules of the tournament bordered on farcical as the opening round bouts would be only one, five minute round. The "revolutionary" fighting surface that YAMMA provided - a normal cage but with a raised lip on either side - worked to Tuchscherer's wrestling advantage as he used the lip to earn an easy change in levels on his opponent.

With these advantages, Tuchscherer defeated Tony Sylvester and Alexey Oleinik via unanimous decision to earn him a spot in the final against journeyman, Travis Wiuff. The bout was held over three rounds and although he tried valiantly, Tuchscherer was outwrestled and outpointed and suffered defeat for the first time in his career.

Three months later, Tuchscherer bounced back from the loss by submitting Tony Mendoza with an armbar.

The wins kept on coming to begin 2009 as he knocked out UFC veteran, Brandon Lee Hinkle and stopped Jamie Klair to improve to 17-1.

UFC

Tuchscherer tried out for The Ultimate Fighter 10 but was instead picked up immediately to fight in the UFC. He will make his UFC debut at UFC 102 when he faces former title challenger, Gabriel Gonzaga.
