Chris Manuel (born March 13, 1983) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of American Top Team where he is a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu under Ricardo Liborio.

He stands 5 ft. x in. (x cm) tall and fights in the featherweight division (143 lbs.).

Manuel is a WEC veteran with his fight coming as a featherweight (143 lbs.) for World Victory Road's, Sengoku promotion.

Early Career

Chris Manuel made his professional mixed martial arts debut on February 3, 2006 for the Costa Rica Fights promotion. He submitted his opponent, Johnathan Sanchez with a rear naked choke in the first round.

Manuel's next two fights came for Kick Enterprises. He picked up a submission victory and a draw. He rounded out 2006 with a submission victory over Chris Holder in November.

In 2007, Manuel fought three times going undefeated in a variety of smaller promotions.

Manuel was picked up by the World Extreme Cagefighting organization in late 2007/2008 and was slated to make his debut at WEC 33 against Japanese fighter, Kenji Osawa. The first two rounds of the bout were lacklustre as neither fighter looked really keen on engaging. The third round was a different story as they both came at each other strong. Nevertheless the fight went to the cards with the decision coming back as a split draw.

Sengoku

Whether due to the lacklustre showing at WEC 33 or for other unknown reasons, Manuel did not fight for almost year after the Osawa bout. In early 2009 though Manuel was recruited as one of 16 fighters for Japanese promotion, Sengoku's 2009 Featherweight (143 lbs.) Grand Prix.

He faced off against TKO featherweight champion and one of the tournament favorites, Hatsu Hioki in the opening round at Sengoku: Seventh Battle. Manuel was overwhelmed by Hioki for the duration of the short bout eventually being submitted with a triangle choke/armbar combination at 4:12 of round 1.
