Profile
Chris "The Polish Hammer" Horodecki (born September 24, 1987) is a Canadian professional mixed martial artist training out of Xtreme Couture.
He stands 5 ft. 8 in. (173 cm) tall and fights in the lightweight (155 lbs.) division.
Horodecki is an IFL veteran and is currently unsigned to any promotion.
Early Career
Chris Horodecki made his professional mixed martial arts debut on September 30, 2005 at TKO 22: Lionheart. He kicked off his career in impressive fashion as he stopped Stephane Laliberte with punches in the second round.
After closing out 2005 with a head kick knockout of Dave Goulet, Horodecki kicked off 2006 with his final two bouts for the TKO promotion. He ended his TKO tenure with two more impressive TKO stoppages over Dave Pariseau and Mike Bell.
IFL
Shortly after his victory over Bell, Horodecki earned himself a call up to the International Fight League. He made a devastating debut as he knocked Erik Owings cold with a head kick in the first round.
After a unanimous decision over Ed West, Horodecki got the toughest test of his early career in the form of journeyman, Ryan Schultz. He was up to the task though as he stopped Schultz with punches just 24 seconds into round 2.
A war with Bart Palaszewski opened up 2007 which he managed to eke out via the narrowest of split decisions.
Wins over Josh Odom and Shad Lierley by June of that year made it an impressive six straight wins in the IFL and ten overall.
In November, Horodecki faced Palaszewski in a rematch as part of the semi-finals of a lightweight tournament that looked to crown the IFL's first lightweight champion. In almost a carbon copy of their first bout, both fighters slugged it out for the duration with Horodecki again earning a close split decision victory.
Just over a month later, Horodecki met Ryan Schultz in a rematch for the title after a host of other opponents were unable to make it to the bout. Schultz executed an early takedown and managed to pin one of Horodecki's arms behind his back leaving his face completely vulnerable. Schultz proceeded to unload with some vicious punches which had the referee showing mercy at 2:51 of round 1.
Four months later, Horodecki was able to bounce back from the vicious stoppage to score a decision win over Nate Lamotte in his last bout for the IFL.
Affliction
With the demise of the IFL, Horodecki entered the open market. After a few months of inactivity, Horodecki was signed to Affliction Entertainment and was scheduled to take on Dan Lauzon at Affliction: Day of Reckoning in October. The fight would not happen though as the whole event was "rescheduled" until January, 2009.
Horodecki was again to face Lauzon at the event but the day before the event he was not medically cleared due to a bulging disc in his back.
He recovered from the injury to have his first fight in over a year in June, 2009 against William Sriyapai - who he defeated via rear naked choke in the first round.
Affliction attempted to rescheduled his bout against Lauzon for their third event, Affliction: Trilogy but it would not go ahead again as this time the whole event was cancelled.
