Profile
Chase "The Rage" Beebe (born March 29, 1985) is an American professional mixed martial artist fighting out of Chicago, Illinois.
He stands 5 ft. 7 in. tall and fights in the bantamweight division (135 lbs.).
Beebe is the former WEC bantamweight champion and currently fights as a featherweight (139 lbs.) for DREAM.
Early Career
Chase Beebe made his professional mixed martial arts debut in the Xtreme Fighting Organization on July 30, 2005. He faced and submitted opponent, Matt McCormick with a rear naked choke in the first round.
In April, 2006, Beebe returned to competition with a 27 second guillotine choke victory over Jesse Rongey at a CFC event.
Beebe fought eight more times in 2006, going 7-1 with 7 submission victories. The loss, the first of his career, came against Matt Fiordirosa via unanimous decision in an XFO event in August.
Beebe kicked off 2007, with a first round rear naked choke victory against Mike Bennett in the King of the Cage organization. The win pushed Beebe's record to 10-1 and his win streak to five.
WEC
At WEC 26, the second World Extreme Cagefighting event held under ZUFFA ownership, Beebe was given a shot at the vacant WEC bantamweight championship. He faced Eddie Wineland and outworked him for the full five, five minute rounds to take the WEC bantamweight championship.
A little over five months later, Beebe was scheduled for his first title defense against 2007 66 kg Abu Dhabi submission grappling champion, Rani Yahya at WEC 30. Beebe was threatened with submission attempts in the opening round but fought through, to completely dominate the last four rounds with his superior pace and cardio. Beebe was awarded the unanimous decision and his first title defense.
Beebe's next challenger came in the form of Miguel Torres, a fighter who had been tearing up competition on the smaller shows and had showed great skill in his WEC debut. From the opening bell, Torres was just all over Beebe on the feet and on the ground. With a little over a minute left in the first round, Torres wrapped Beebe up in a modified guillotine choke which forced the tap from Beebe, awarding Torres the WEC bantamweight championship.
At WEC 34, Beebe faced Brazilian, Will Ribeiro. In a close fight that saw Beebe defending guillotine chokes for the majority of the three rounds. The fight went to the judges and Will Ribeiro was awarded the split decision victory.
DREAM
Beebe was next scheduled to face Mike Easton in a bout in the UWC for the promotion's bantamweight title on February 21, 2009. However, a knee injury forced him to pull out of the bout.
Instead, Beebe will take his place in the field of 15 fighters vying for the DREAM featherweight title in DREAM's 139 lbs. featherweight tournament. Beebe will face Joe Warren in the first round at DREAM 7 on March 8, 2009.
