Profile

Brian "All American" Stann (born September 24, 1980) is an American professional mixed martial artist who currently trains out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He stands 6 ft. tall and fights in the light heavyweight division (205 lbs.).

He is the former WEC light heavyweight champion and currently fights as a light heavyweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Stann rose to the rank of Captain in the United States Marine Corps. He has also been awarded the Silver Star, the third highest award for valor in combat in the United States.

MMA Debut

Brian Stann made his professional mixed martial debut against Aaron Stark at SportFight 14 on January 6, 2006.

In a quick fight, Stann ended Stark's night with a TKO in the first round.

WEC

Following his debut, Stann moved over into the WEC where he faced Miguel Cosio at WEC 21. In what is the shortest fight in WEC history, Stann scored a TKO over Cosio in just 16 seconds to improve to 2-0.

Stann returned at WEC 26, the second WEC event held under ZUFFA ownership, to face Steve Cantwell on the opening fight of the card. Stann continued his trend of finishing fights quickly as he scored another TKO, this time in 41 seconds.

Just under three months later, Stann returned to WEC competition at WEC 28 where once again his fists prevailed as he stopped his opponent, Craig Zellner in 4:57 of first round.

At WEC 30, Stann pounded out Jeremiah Billington with his fifth first round TKO in five fights.

The undefeated and dynamic start to his career earned Stann a shot at the WEC light heavyweight title which was held by Doug Marshall. The bout took place as the headliner for WEC 33 and did not last very long. Marshall's wild striking was no match for Stann's crisper boxing. Stann quickly KO'd Mashall just over a minute in to take the WEC light heavyweight championship.

In August of 2008, Stann faced Steve Cantwell in a rematch for the first defense of his title. Cantwell's wider array of strikes proved to be the difference in the bout as Stann relied, for the majority, on the same combination. Once Cantwell got down his timing it was only a matter of time. A barrage of punches dropped Stann in the second round, and Cantwell was crowned the new WEC light heavyweight champion.

UFC Career

Following ZUFFA's decision to dissolve the WEC's light heavyweight and middleweight divisions into the UFC, Stann was officially transferred over to the UFC roster.

He was scheduled to make his UFC debut at UFC: Fight for the Troops in December of 2008 in a third fight with Steve Cantwell. Stann had to pull out of the bout however due to a foot injury.

Stann eventually made his UFC debut at UFC 97 in April, 2009. He faced TUF 8's Krzysztof Soszynski and his ground game was called in to question after he was easily submitted with a kimura in the first round.
