Brian Bowles (born June 22, 1980) is an American professional mixed martial artist training out of the Hardcore Gym.

He stands 5 ft. 7 in. (170 cm) tall and fights in the bantamweight division (135 lbs.).

Bowles is currently a bantamweight contender in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) organization.

Early Career

Brian Bowles made his professional mixed martial arts debut on May 12, 2006 at Wild Bill's Fight Night 2. He was victorious in his debut as he submitted Tim Honeycutt in the first round.

Just under four months later, Bowles followed the Honeycutt submission with a TKO of Charles Nutt.

In February, 2007, Bowles improved to 3-0 as he submitted Shane Weinischke with a rear naked choke.

WEC

The impressive start to his career earned Bowles a contract with the ZUFFA owned and operated, World Extreme Cagefighting. Bowles faced off against Charlie Valencia in his WEC debut at WEC 28. He submitted his quality opponent with a rear naked choke in the second round.

Six months later at WEC 31, Bowles was very impressive as he knocked Marcos Galvao cold with a punch midway through the second round.

Bowles kept the undefeated start to his career going at WEC 35 when he submitted Damacio Page with a guillotine choke in just 3:30 of round 1.

At WEC 37, Bowles met Will Ribeiro in what was considered to be a number one contender match for the bantamweight title. The two fought hard for two and a half round with Bowles capitalizing on a Ribeiro mistake in the third round to submit his Brazilian opponent with a guillotine choke.

The win, as expected, earned Bowles a shot at bantamweight champion, Miguel Torres at WEC 40. Bowles suffered a back injury in training though and was replaced by Shooto veteran, Takeya Mizugaki.

Recuperated from the injury, Bowles will get his shot at the title at WEC 42 in August, 2009 where he will meet Torres.
